Responsibilities:
Monthly report generation from the main ERP. Prepare monthly and quarterly analysis for key financial drivers, to apply critical thinking to identify trends, assess risks, and propose innovative solutions to enhance financial performance.
Supports the Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Manager in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
Develops and administers production of monthly controlling and analysis reports and ensures appropriate submission to management while proactively identifying enhancements to reporting practices based on insights.
Reviews existing controls, provides recommendations and support for the implementation of additional financial controls across the organization.
Documents business processes and monitor changes within the ERP System, including Zycus, and SAP to ensure effective procedural outcomes.
Support in performing financial data entry into global consolidation and reporting tool. Actively seeks opportunities to streamline and automate data entry processes.
Prepares detailed reports and presentations which identify economic and financial trend analysis. Outline actionable recommendations for operational improvement, risk mitigation, and efficiency gain.
Provides expert advice by demonstrating the understanding of full cycle accounting, and assists PCL business units with:
Monthly budget tracking and resolution of P&L inquiries
Preparation of ad hoc financial modelling analysis
Support with annual budget preparation
Collects operational data and provides analysis to identify cost drivers and budget variances.
Develop and automate financial reporting and analytics processes using advanced Excel functionalities (VBA scripting, macros, complex formulas)
Assists with the preparation and review of routine and special reporting requests from the CFO.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration and/or related discipline is required
Appropriate post-university qualifications in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Financial Analysis, Controlling, Audit or Financial Consulting, preferred.
Candidates will be able to show their understanding of general accounting principles and its application to their financial planning and analysis activities. CPA Designation preferred, not required.
3 to 5 years of progressive experience in a Financial Analyst role
Automotive industry experience with an understanding of Importer functions preferred
Preference for candidates with experience in dynamic or fast-paced environments where independent decision-making, problem-solving, and taking initiative are valued
Experience in and IFRS based environment preferred - Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Financial Analysis, Controlling, Audit or Financial Consulting
Strong SAP knowledge and experience preferred
Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) is required, advanced Excel skills (VBA scripting, macros, complex formulas) preferred.
Proven ability to work independently while demonstrating an entrepreneurial mindset, using critical thinking to approach challenges, seek innovative solutions, and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
Demonstrate a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement, willing to challenge the status quo to implement new and effective solutions.
German and/or French language skills are an asset, but not required
Organized and detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Able to prioritize, structure, and schedule tasks to maximize effort and meet challenging deadlines
