Adecco is actively seeking a skilled Civil Estimator to join our client’s team. This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $100,000 - $125,000 per annum. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the estimating process for various civil projects, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of bids.

  • Pay Rate: $100k-$125k/year.

  • Location: Oakville, ON

  • Job type: Permanent | Full-time

Responsibilities:  

  • Lead small to medium estimates or components of large estimates and review all associated bid documents.

  • Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine and validate overall project requirements.

  • Complete full quantity take-offs of all labour, equipment, and materials from project documents.

  • Support the estimate lead by populating tender forms, generating requests for information, and assisting in establishing a pursuit schedule.

  • Recognize risks related to project-specific requirements, site conditions, schedule, and market constraints.

  • Assist with bid document control by documenting, organizing, and archiving all information related to the estimate for successful transfer to the project team.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including subtrade partners and suppliers.

  • Solicit competitive pricing from subtrade partners and suppliers.

  • Collaborate with pursuit and project teams during pursuit stages and project delivery.

  • Work closely with project teams to provide project management and estimating support.

Requirements:  

  • Legal eligibility to work and reside in Canada.

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related discipline, or equivalent trade experience.

  • 4-6 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating.

  • Project Management experience preferred, with a track record of successfully leading pursuits valued up to $50 million.

  • General construction knowledge, including specifications, drawings, materials, and procedures.

  • Intermediate knowledge of bid preparation principles, including quantity take-off procedures, procurement, and bid-closing procedures.

  • Understanding of compensation models, market conditions, and competitors.

  • Experience in civil projects such as transit and underground infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with various delivery methods: hard bid, GMP, unit price, design-build, target prices, and cost reimbursable.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders, subtrade partners, and suppliers.

  • Proficient in estimating software, Microsoft Office Suite, and adept at adopting new technology.
